Hide It
HideIt allows you to hide the design of a Notes database after you have created it. With HideIt you can create your database, then when ready for deployment can hide the design. With the SHOW option, debugging your databases is easier. You can hide the design from your clients, then if you need to make a change or bugfix, show the design, make the change and re-hide it. Simple.
Note: If you have the icon on your workspace or bookmarked, the design will still 'appear' to be available. This is because database and design information is cached by your Notes client. After running HideIt, remove all bookmarks to the database and re-add them. Using this utility on commercial databases may constitute piracy, resulting in severe fines or jail. Piracy is strongly discouraged by webWise Network Consultants.
The free version of this application is available only to HIDE a database design. The full version is available upon request.
| IMPORTANT NOTE |
| In release 5 and above, when a developer hides the design of a database, the physical source is stripped from the file. This means that even if the database header flag is reset to all the design to be shown, the original source is not physically present in the database file. HideIt! will only recover completely databases that have been hidden using a Notes R4.x client. |
Installation:
Copy nhideit.exe to your Notes programs directory. This is where you find
nlnotes.exe (on a client) or nServer.exe (on a server). By specifying only
the database name, HideIt! will show the current design state of the database.
From the server console:
USAGE: LOAD HIDEIT [DBName] [HIDE|SHOW]
EG: LOAD HIDEIT mailsomedb.nsf HIDE
From a command prompt on the client:
USAGE: nHIDEIT [DBName] [HIDE|SHOW]
EG: nHIDEIT mailsomedb.nsf HIDE
EG: nHIDEIT server!!mailsomedb.nsf SHOW
